9 and a half days

stupid

Airport issues and what I brought with me.

I packed around 9 shirts, 2 jeans, 1 leggings, 1 cardigan, 2 long sleeved undershirts, 3 scarves with varying thickness, 1 pair of gloves, 1 ear muffs, a pair of sneakers, vanity kit filled with sachets and my toothbrush. a small umbrella, 4 pairs of socks, my cousin’s pasalubong (which basically took about 1/4 of my medium luggage space), 1 hooded parka, 1 flat shoes, 1 pair of slippers, 1 pair of arm sleeves, 1 shoulder bag, 1 camera, 1 bag of cables for charging and a small power bank, 1 sketchbook, 1 notepad, 4 pairs of underwear, 1 disposable rain poncho.

I didn’t bring a thicker jacket as it only listed that the temperature will be around 16-12c on Accuweather.  I know that it kind of rains a lot in the UK just like it does here so I brought my tiny umbrella. I brought a shoulder bag which can fit my documents bag, wallet, camera, balm, medicine, phone and power bank.

  9. Documents zip bag – passport, plane tickets, train tickets, itinerary, acid meds, and motion sickness meds.

This ziplock bag I held until I got to the departure area x-ray machine.  Used a tray for my padlocked bag, this ziplock bag shown below. my watch and my belt. I asked the security lady if I should take off my boots as well and she just waved me in.

  4. Myra – E Daily Sun protect Facial Moisturizer w/ SPF15

What absolutely pissed me off is that after I walked in with my boots on. The security lady commented – under her breath “ay di tumunog”.

AY DI TUMUNOG?!

I didn’t want any trouble and I was already too stressed that this will be my first time to travel alone outside the country.  I grabbed my things, wore my watch and belt and walked away. I had to wait for about an hour and a half before boarding.

So in total I brought a medium sized luggage trolley with luggage cover, locked and tapped zippers which I had to check in, a boston bag, and a small ziplock bag which i kept in the boston bag after the scan.  I wore cotton slacks, blue stretch shirt, a cotton cardigan, and dm boots on the plane.

The Longest Wait

The girl who accepted my documents at the visa center asked me if I wanted the process expedited.

ex·pe·dite
ˈekspəˌdīt/
verb
past tense: expedited; past participle: expedited
  1. make (an action or process) happen sooner or be accomplished more quickly.
“he promised to expedite economic reforms”
synonyms: speed up, acceleratehurryhasten, step up, quickenprecipitatedispatchMore

I asked what she meant by that (not wanting her to define the word but wanting her to tell me how much that would cost me)I . She said I can pay to have the results sooner for an additional Php 8,640.00.

I said “No, thank you.” as I had no extra money for that.

She then asked if I wanted to be texted when processing is finished and that my package is already in transit for Php 200.00.

I asked if this would also tell me the outcome of the application. She said no. What is the point then? I asked myself and then said “No”.

The site says it normally takes 15 days for a decision. Blogs about it will say it takes about 1 week to 15 days. I got mine on the 15th day. Exactly on the 15th on a work day, before lunch time. I tore the bag open while walking back to my seat at work.

I got me a UK visa.

This is really happening.
